  2.  Colorado Utilities Disk Manager (CUDM) A high volume disk catalog system.

  4.  *****NOTE to users loading HIMEM.SYS or users of Tandy systems. ********
  5.  Early version of HIMEM.SYS (before 3-10-92) have known problems with use
  6.  of expanded memory. Tandy users also have a buggy expanded memory inter-
  7.  face and both must use the /NOEMS command line option to run CUDM.  The
  8.  solution for the buggy HIMEM.SYS is to upgrade your copy or switch to a
  9.  better memory manager. (QEMM or 386MAX)  The fix for Tandy users .......
  10.  well, I'd suggest getting Tandy to fix their computers.

  13.  CUDM, the standard version supports 4,000+ records, depending on 
  14.  available memory.  The Plus & Extended  versions have an unlimited capacity.  
  15.  Reads any disk size, including CD-ROM drives interfaced through standard 
  16.  MS-DOS drivers.  Reads and catalogs internal directories of compression 
  17.  libraries (ZIP, LHA, PAK, ZOO, ARC, MD, etc).  Many search capabilities 
  18.  including imbedded strings, wild card, etc.  Allows 410 characters of 
  19.  comments per catalog entry. Supports 25/43/50 line screens.

  21.  The Plus version uses standard DOS and EMS memory and has an unlimited 
  22.  capacity. (Actually about 3 billion records in each file)  The Extended
  23.  version uses protected mode Extended memory and have an unlimited
  24.  capacity.  The plus version is available only through registration.

  26.  While you may freely share this program it is copyrighted material and if 
  27.  you continue to use it after a reasonable period (30 days) you are expected 
  28.  to register it with the owner.  See the last page of the DOC file for 
  29.  information on registering.

  41.     o Read comments from external sources. This includes an imbedded
  42.       FILE-ID.DIZ and a .SDI file as well as the hidden DESCRIPT.ION
  43.       file created by 4DOS. (Hopefully in version 4.0)

  47.     o Joe Davis, a beta tester, discovered a printing bug which had been
  48.       in CUDM for about 5 versions.  The program ignored the user setting
  49.       for line length in the Printer Layout Form. This has been fixed.
  50.     o The print layout was changed to allow the number of lines printed
  51.       in compressed mode to be set by the user. Most printers will allow
  52.       70 to 80 lines per page while printing compressed.

  55.     o Added a duplicates only view. There is also a new check box in the
  56.       default dialog which alerts CUDM to automatically update the duplicate
  57.       file index during updating. If this is not checked, the duplicate
  58.       file index will become outdated each time you add, delete or update
  59.       a catalog.  The down-side is that maintaining the duplicate file index
  60.       takes time and slows down the cataloging process.
  61.     o Move the view screen dialog box items to submenus. This should make
  62.       it easier to understand and use.
  63.     o The volume view was one of those moved to a submenu.  You can now 
  64.       select one or more volumes to view by hitting the space bar in
  65.       the selection list for each volume you wish to see. The sequence will
  66.       always be in volume/filename order.
  67.     o Fixed the Print to file option. Be sure to set the destination in the
  68.       printer definition submenu.
  69.     o Most of the view options have been speeded up. With large files 
  70.       this is a big improvement.
  71.     o The option to not expand archives wasn't working. This has been 
  72.       fixed and the interface has been changed.
  73.     o The format for the configuration file (CUDM.INI) has been changed 
  74.       to text. The system maintains it internally and if it is altered
  75.       it may not set internal switches properly. To fix a damaged .INI 
  76.       file merely delete the old one and do a Save Options in the Systems
  77.       menu.
  78.     o The brand call from the command line has been changed to /brand.  
  79.       The old /+ still works but will probably be phased out in the next
  80.       version or two.
  81.     o The status screen layout has been changed to allow room for the
  82.       duplicate file count.

  108.     o Added command line parameter "/NOEMS". This turns off all
  109.       use of EMS for those machines which have major memory 
  110.       compatibility problems as well as old EMS drivers.
  111.     o Added an option to add a Data Set manually.
  112.     o Corrected screen layout window. Volume and File windows were
  113.       switched.
  114.     o Fixed the volume selection window to accept more than 15 volumes.
  115.     o Moved the colors into the configuration file.
  116.     o Rewrote the setcolor program, now called DMCOLOR.EXE
  117.     o Renamed the CUDM.CFG file to CUDM.INI to pave the way to Windows.
  118.     o  Once more into the breech.<g>  This release fixes the comment
  119.        search routine.  The original routine had an uninitialized case
  120.        flag and as a result wouldn't search for case sensitive until at
  121.        least one "ignore case" search was completed.
  122.     o  Fixed the DOS Shell option which worked fine for 25 line mode but
  123.        hung the system for 43 & 50 line modes. The allocated buffer used
  124.        to store the current window was too small.

  127.         Older version of HIMEM.SYS will hang the system when it tries to
  128.         allocate EMS. We recommend anyone having problems with system hangs
  129.         replace HIMEM.SYS with the version dated 3-10-92 3:10 or later.
  130.     o  Turn the mouse back on in the main menu. 
  131.     o  Fixed a new bug introduced in v3.52 Unable to save comments or
  132.        categories.
  133.     o  Fixed another v3.52 bug Unable to delete current entry.
  134.     o  Overlay was only using standard RAM. Fixed it to use EMS. System is
  135.        now much faster.
  136.     o  Fixed a problem with the way the registered version allocates and
  137.        releases EMS memory. This should make system sharing easier.
  138.     o  Added universal hot keys.
  139.        - AltX ... exits CUDM from anywhere in the program.
  140.        - AltA or F5 ... Begins quick catalog from anywhere in the
  141.          program.

  144.     o  Added support for 43 and 50 line screen modes if operating on an
  145.        EGA or VGA screen.
  146.     o  The memo editor wasn't releasing its buffer when done. Eventually 
  147.        the program would have all of memory and choke.
  148.     o  Some macro systems take control of interrupt vectors which
  149.        conflict with CUDM when trying to shell to DOS.  Added code to
  150.        restore standard vectors and replace them upon return from DOS.
  151.        Also added code to completely shut-down the catalogs before
  152.        shelling out. This will protect the files if a proper exit from
  153.        the shell is not made.
  154.     o  Changed the volume label routines to add the label to the
  155.        mediaID portion of the diskette boot record. (per DOS 4.x & 5.0)
  156.     o  Changed the record delete to take subordinate entries into account.
  157.        Deleting the volume now deletes all archives and files from that
  158.        volume. Deleting the archive deletes all files in the archive.
  159.     o  Moved the sequencing option to the menu. Improved the speed and
  160.        interface. See ORDER on the LIST menu.
  161.     o  Added a DEFAULT dialog option to include the drive letter in the
  162.        subdirectory field of the catalog record. Added this new flag to
  163.        the configuration file, so the new configuration version is 3.42.
  164.     o  Added Update/Add abort.  Hitting any key during operation will
  165.        abort the Update/Add.
  166.     o  Added volume rename function. Alt-R will prompt for new volume name.
  167.     o  Added a Volume View option. (Kind of slow in this version, will
  168.        be speeded up in next release)
  169.     o  Corrected a design flaw which slowed down large updates.
  170.     o  Corrected a bug in the comment routines which failed to deallocate
  171.        memory after a comment was added. Systems would eventually run out
  172.        of memory and lock-up.
  173.     o  Fixed a bug in Screen and Print Layout windows. Prompts were
  174.        uppercase only.
  175.     o  Fixed a bug in the print routine which forced a "Printer head out
  176.        of position" error 18401.

  179.      o  Changed the format of the screen and print layout windows to a dialog
  180.         box to support buttons to save the layout.
  181.      o  Add/update routine was using the hard drive date as date for floppy.
  182.      o  Fixed a bug in the update that caused an update to increment the
  183.         volume count. (Run the rebuild function to reset your count).
  184.      o  System wasn't saving comments properly during an update.

  186.         available to registered users. These programs will be sent on the

  193.      o  Added ability to change catalog name within the default dialog box.
  194.      o  Fixed the command line to change the catalog name. Added the
  195.         /diskdrive to the command line, example: /c will use drive C as the
  196.         default.

  205.         anything but the file view. The extensive nature of the problem

  208.         distribution.
  209.      o  Added duplicate file check into the view screens.
  210.      o  External export program available to registered users.
  211.      o  Replaced the viewer with a faster one.
  212.      o  Added string searching in comments and multiple imbedded strings in
  213.         names.
  214.      o  Added the 'S' edit filter to split filenames.
  215.      o  Fixed a bug in the branding routine that left an extraneous set of
  216.         catalog files behind.
  217.      o  Fixed a bug that hung the PC when the viewer was opened for volumes
  218.         followed by files.
  219.      o  Improved speed in the user sort key function.
  220.      o  Added external record export feature. Available only in the Plus
  221.         version.
  222.      o  Added a routine to rebuild the indexes. This routine also re-counts
  223.         the records and maintains index order.
  224.      o  Fixed to retain comments and category on update.
  225.      o  Fixed field lengths to correct errors in updating diskettes.
  226.      o  Fixed routine which cleaned up file after updating.
  227.      o  Would delete all records which volumes higher in the alphabetic
  228.         chain than the one being updated.
